Love fades … much more quickly than tattoos.

Heidi Klum has been quietly working to remove her tat of ex-husband Seal's name from her arm. New photos of the "America's Got Talent" judge out in Manhattan show the ink has significantly faded, but she appears to have a long way to go in the removal process.

When reached by omg!, a rep for the German beauty had no comment, but a source confirms to People magazine that Klum "is in the process of getting her tattoo removed" and has "been through a few treatments."

The 40-year-old mother of four, who announced her separation from the actor in January 2012, had the British musician's named permanently etched in script on the inside of her right arm in May 2008 when they held their annual vow renewal marking their third wedding anniversary.

"It's my husband's name," Klum told YoungHollywood.com soon after, showing off the body art. "The tattoo artist made the ink exactly in the color of my husband. He mixed the color for us, he tried it on [Seal's skin], and then he put it on my arm. And then I have three stars with the first initials of our children."

Klum added one more star after their youngest daughter, Lou, was born in 2009. And those tributes to her children will remain; according to People, she plans to leave the stars intact.

The decision to remove her ex's name makes sense, especially because Klum has long since moved on romantically. Soon after filing for divorce in April 2012, she started dating her bodyguard Martin Kristen and they have been together since. The couple has been spending time in New York City this summer, where he was been seen doting on her four children.

During an appearance on "Katie" last year, Klum opened up about her second divorce calling it “horrible” and “hurtful," though she said she remained optimistic about love, adding, “I’m someone who believes in a fairy tale."

Fairy tales? Yes. Inking a beau's name in her arm again? Probably not.
