Best. Emmys. Speech. EVER: An Underdog Takes Home an Emmy

Longshot nominee Merritt Wever from "Nurse Jackie" was as shocked as anybody when her name was announced by presenters Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as the winner of the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Beating better-known contenders Julie Bowen ("Modern Family"), Anna Chlumsky ("Veep"), Jane Krakowski ("30 Rock"), Jane Lynch ("Glee"), Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family"), and Mayim Bialik ("The Big Bang Theory"), Wever was genuinely shaken. And her surprise was evident in her onstage reaction.

Wever's speech in its entirety: "I gotta go. Bye."

Instant reaction from host Neil Patrick Harris: "Best acceptance speech ever."

Backstage, though, Wever was a little more vocal — thanking everyone she needed to thank, including "Nurse Jackie" co-star Edie Falco.

And about that speech: "I'm sorry I didn't thank anyone. I was going to cry, that's why. I'm scared. I'm scared because it was unexpected. I have therapy next week."
