Jimmy Kimmel picks fanciest pajamas for Emmy announcement

The Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced bright and early this morning, but only one announcer made the effort to dress for the occasion. While "Scandal" actress Kerry Washington wore a pretty tunic and pants, her last-minute co-announcer decided to go much less formal. Jimmy Kimmel was tapped to announce the nominations just hours before the early ceremony began, after "Parks and Recreation" star Nick Offerman was delayed on the East Coast due to weather. So the comedian, and host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," made a statement by gracing the stage in his pajamas.

The announcements take place in Los Angeles at 5:38 a.m. PT, and Kimmel joked it was unnecessary to start at that hour. "They roust me out of bed. This would be just as good at noon." Washington, commented on his pastel, two-piece pajamas and asked for the designer, prompting Kimmel to explain, "This is from the husky baby collection, thank you."

Kimmel's grumbling about the timing did not stop throughout the announcements. Upon a large round of cheers at the nomination of Betty White as Outstanding Host for "Off Their Rockers," Jimmy noted, "Only old people get up this early." Jimmy himself also garnered a nomination, as his show was nominated for Outstanding Variety Series. This is the first ever nomination for "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and after the announcement Jimmy seemed unsure of protocol. "Do I give a speech now, or how does this work?"

The nominations wrapped up with the return of an Emmy representative in full suit and tie, who looked quite comical next to Kimmel's jammies. The awards will be handed out September 23 at 5 p.m. PST, which will hopefully give Jimmy a chance to don something a little fancier.
