Mario Lopez's Emmy night wasn't all glitz and glamour. It was more like illness and IVs.

While you couldn't tell by photos, the new dad was under the weather when he reported to the red carpet for his "Extra" hosting duties. He still looked dapper in a tuxedo and smiled broadly, displaying those trademark dimples.

But the "X Factor" host, who was in Las Vegas over the weekend covering the iHeartRadio music festival, was battling an undisclosed bug. Shortly before the red carpet kicked off he tweeted, "Emmy Sunday! Feeling a bit run down & out of it...I'll rally. Let me know what u want me to ask ur favorite stars. I'll be on the red carpet."

And while the 39-year-old did rally, conducting interviews with "House of Cards'" Kevin Spacey, "Modern Family's" Eric Stonestreet, and "Homeland's" Morena Baccarin to name a few, that hard work did him in. By 8 p.m., the "Saved by the Bell" alum was at home in bed getting medical care.

"Tough day. Ending it by being hooked up to IV...." tweeted Lopez, along with a photo of himself hooked up to an intravenous drip.

Lopez didn't go into detail about what specifically he was ailing from (a rep for Lopez has not yet responded to Yahoo's request for comment), but he looked like he was in good hands — as his 3-year-old daughter, Gia, was with him providing TLC. And he felt good enough to watch the Emmys from bed, commenting on the Best Choreography category, as well as other TV shows, including "Boardwalk Empire."

In addition to Lopez's busy schedule hosting two shows, he also has a new addition at home. His son, Dominic, was born earlier this month, so we're sure not getting enough sleep is playing into whatever is ailing him.

Get well soon!
