Elisha Cuthbert and Dion Phaneuf get married in Prince Edward Island

The girl next door got hitched on this side of the fence. Canadian "Girl Next Door" star Elisha Cuthbert got married over the weekend to Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf, and the couple held the ceremony ofn Canada's East Coast.

The two Alberta natives, who have been together for five years, tied the knot at a private ceremony at St. James Catholic Church in Summerfield, PEI, on Saturday.

“It’s a big wedding, probably the biggest I’ve ever done in my 46 years, as far as the celebrity part of it goes,” the Rev. Paul Egan, who led the service, told the National Post.

According to the Canadian Press, Cuthbert and Phaneuf drove in a vintage Camaro SS (a gift from bride to groom for their wedding day) from the nuptials to the reception at their summer residence in New London, where Phaneuf reportedly spends a large portion of his time off-season.

"What a fun weekend," Toronto Maple Leafs player Tyler Bozak tweeted on Sunday of his teammate's big event, to which Cuthbert replied, "the BEST!"

Phaneuf has strong PEI connections through his family: Not only did the 28-year-old hockey star spend summers there as a child, but one of his dad's aunts, Janice Sherry, is also the attorney general of the province. Phaneuf reportedly built his New London home next to a group of cottages owned by his relatives.

"[PEI is] such a quiet place that we can be ourselves and not get bothered too much and have a real summer away from the hustle and bustle of our lives,” Cuthbert told Summerside's Journal Pioneer in 2008, the first year the 30-year-old "Happy Endings" star had visited the island.

"You've got everything here. You have water, you have golf, you have fishing, you have great food. It's just a beautiful place," she said. "It's great for me to come here with Dion and just have some downtime. It's a really comfortable way to live."

And get married!
