  • 'The Voice' Season 6 Playoffs, Round 2: Teams Adam & Shakira Are On the Edge of Glory

"The Voice" Season 6 inched one episode closer to the long-delayed Live Playoffs this Tuesday, when the show staged its not -live Playoffs with Adam Levine and Shakira's semifinalists.

Ten singers sang, six singers advanced, two hours passed. Overall, this was a more compelling episode than last week's Team Blake Playoffs, and for the most part the right contestants made it through — with the possible exception of one promising newbie.

Let's get to the recapping, shall we?

  • Phillip Phillips Is a Work of Art in 'Raging Fire' Video

Haters declaring that "American Idol" is over and is no longer a viable platform for rising artists should watch the new music video by Season 11 champion Phillip Phillips and kindly back off. While last year's winner, Candice Glover, has struggled commercially, P-Squared is still going strong.

His quintuple-platinum coronation song, "Home," became the most successful "Idol" single of all time (outselling Kelly, Carrie, et al) and was featured in NBC's Summer Olympics promos and countless films, TV shows, and ads. His second single, "Gone, Gone, Gone," shifted another cool million units. A well-received tour with John Mayer followed, and now, as Phillip prepares to release his full-length sophomore effort "Behind the Light" on May 19, that album's lead single, "Raging Fire," is simultaneously ascending Billboard's Adult Alternative, Hot Adult Contemporary, and Adult Contemporary charts.

  • 'The Voice' Season 6 Playoffs, Round 1: A Team Blake State of Mind

After so many weeks of battles that I actually started to wonder if this "Voice" season would run long and Adam Levine would have to postpone his wedding, the top 20 Live Playoffs finally commenced this Tuesday.

Actually, the Playoffs were no more live than that Academy of Country Music Awards performanceby Blake Shelton's buddies Rascal Flatts the other night. I don't mean that the contestants lip-synched. What I mean is, the actual live shows are still a couple weeks away, and Tuesday's Playoffs episode, featuring performances by Team Blake's five contenders, was pre-taped. While in the past three seasons, public voting started with the top 20, this season — for the first time since Season 2 — the top 12 semifinalists are being determined entirely by the coaches (or by producer Mark Burnett, probably).

  • ‘The Voice’ Season 6 Final Battles: Breaking Dawn (and Hawkes)

Lyndsey Parker at Reality Rocks8 days ago

Not long ago, Adam Levine declared the audition by Austin duo Dawn & Hawkes his FAVORITE PERFORMANCE IN "VOICE" HISTORY. Yes, that's right. Better than Juliet Simms's phenomenal "It's a Man's, Man's, Man's World." Better than Amanda Brown belting "Dream On." Better than anything Team Adam's winning contestant Tessanne Chin sang last season.

    Favorite. Performance. In. "Voice." History.

Sure, master strategist/snake-oil salesman Adam may have laid it on a bit thick, as he often does, in order to woo to the twosome to his team. But after high praise like that, it seemed like Dawn & Hawkes were frontrunners, and nothing short of giving an epically awful performance a la Season 2's Erin Martin or Season 3's Beat Frequency would keep them out of the top 20 Playoffs.
