Dirty TackleSerie A approves fourth shirt sponsorship space and vanishing spray
Serie A has unanimously voted to increase the number of sponsor spaces on players' shirts from three to four. The new sponsor area will be a 200cm squared space on the back of the shirt, below the number.
This, of course, does not mean that all Serie A clubs will immediately fill that space, but it's an option that's now available. And with stadium attendance on the decline in Italy, a new revenue stream is something no club would turn away.
In less depressing Serie A developments, the league has also adopted the vanishing spray popularized at the World Cup in Brazil. The spray will be used by referees in both Serie A and B this season.
Expect to see the vanishing spray cans sponsors in time for the 2015/16 season.
