'The Big Bang Theory' Season 6 Finale: Sheldon Walks, Raj Talks!

Leonard leaves for a four-month at-sea expedition; Raj doesn't need booze to talk to the ladies.

Raj tries to forcefully get Penny to say "I love you" to Leonard and her reaction surprises him.

Season 6 of CBS's megahit comedy "The Big Bang Theory" didn't go out with a bang so much as with a splash. Leonard (Johnny Galecki) is off to a North Sea expedition orchestrated by Stephen Hawking. (Dream job!) He can thank Howard (Simon Helberg) for giving him a recommendation. The downside: He'll be gone for four months.

It's not Penny (Kaley Cuoco) who tries to keep her beau around, though, it's his BFF Sheldon (Jim Parsons), who delivers some pretty low blows trying to keep him home. And let's just say that Leonard is not impressed with his "blend of concern and selfishness."

"Did you know that the highest number of drowning accidents happen on or around boats?" Sheldon asks his bud, before suggesting that it could ruin his relationship with Penny. It's a good thing she supports her man — for now, at least.

But ever irrationally rational, Sheldon takes some cues from humankind (i.e., Penny) and decides to suck up his selfishness and jealousy and pretend that he's happy for Leonard. He even toasts to Leonard's opportunity at the bon voyage party thrown in Leonard's honor — but not before he says, "We'll need closure for when you die at sea."

Watch Penny and Sheldon say their goodbyes to Leonard:

It isn't all awkward celebration for the gang (but it is all awkward). Raj (Kunal Nayyar) tries hard to integrate socially anxious Lucy (Kate Micucci) in the friend group. He even invites Amy (Mayim Bialik) over to give Lucy a pep talk about the group's welcoming nature. But, inevitably, it ends with Lucy escaping to the bathroom.

During the bon voyage party, she texts Raj and breaks up with him. He is heartbroken, and when Penny swings by his place after dropping Leonard off at the airport, he pours out his heart to her. Surely, Raj has been pouring the drinks, too, right? How else can he talk to Penny?! It seems that heartbreak has unlocked his vocal cords around the ladies. But this big breakthrough comes with a catch: "Does he ever shut up?" Amy says, as he goes on and on to her, Penny, and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch).

Looks like it's going to be a long — and chatty — four months.
