1960s model sues 'Mad Men' over opening credits: See her photos now and then
The distinctive "Mad Men" opening credits are coming under fire from a popular 1960s-era model.
As the ad man silhouette falls through the sky, an image of the redheaded Gita Hall May wearing ruby lipstick flashes on the building behind him. The shot is a sketch based on a Richard Avedon-shot Revlon hairspray ad. It is just one of several background images recalling iconic '60s advertising to appear in the sequence.

In her lawsuit against the show's production company, Lionsgate, May is seeking damages for the unauthorized use of her likeness. The credits were created by a team at Imaginary Forces, which won the 2008 Emmy for Outstanding Main Title Design.
The 79-year-old former model was not aware of her appearance in the credits until last year when she watched the series on DVD.
