6 Things to Know About Savannah Guthrie
Just one day after Ann Curry's emotional exit from Today, NBC has named Savannah Guthrie the newest co-host of the morning show. After 15 years of Curry, it's going to be hard adjusting to someone new. So here's everything you need to know about Savannah Guthrie.
1. She is originally from Australia.
Though raised in Tucson, Ariz., Guthrie was actually born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1971. Her family moved to the States two years later.
2. She's an attorney.
She might be famous as a journalist, but Guthrie, who earned an undergraduate journalism degree from the University of Arizona, graduated from Georgetown University Law Center magna cum laude. She then served as a litigation associate, specializing in white-collar criminal defense.
3. She has ranidaphobia.
The latest co-anchor of Today has a crippling fear — of frogs! Guthrie was forced to face her phobia while filming a segment on the county fair in 2011. Matt Lauer couldn't resist teasing her when he held the amphibian up to Guthrie until she squealed, "Get that frog away from me!"

4. She's on the fast track at NBC.
Guthrie only joined NBC five years ago as a legal analyst. In 2008, she became NBC News' White House correspondent and covered the presidential election. She then co-anchored MSNBC's The Daily Rundown before being named co-host of the 9 a.m. hour of Today alongside Natalie Morales and Al Roker in 2011.
5. She's tall.
Guthrie is 5-foot-10, putting her well over the 6 feet mark in heels. She goes barefoot on Today when she's behind the news desk to fit into the shot and when she's interviewing shorter guests.
6. She's divorced. br />While covering the Michael Jackson trial, Guthrie met her future husband, BBC News presenter Mark Orchard. They split in 2009.
