AMC Adds German-language Channel KinoweltTV to Global Network

LONDON — AMC/Sundance Channel Global, the international channels division of AMC Networks, has inked a deal to buy KinoweltTV, a basic pay TV channel distributed throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The linear channel airs a range of classic and contemporary films.

The acquisition expands AMC/Sundance Channel Global’s European presence with full distribution across all platforms in German-speaking Europe. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.

KinoweltTV’s existing management will join the AMC/Sundance Channel Global team, which is led by Bruce Tuchman, prexy of AMC/Sundance Channel Global and MGM Channel Global. Achim Apell will continue to be KinoweltTV’s managing director.

Tuchman stated, “The acquisition of KinoweltTV is an important moment for AMC/Sundance Channel Global as it increases its international footprint, and provides widespread distribution across all major platforms throughout German-speaking Europe.”
