Anderson Cooper Giggles Over Dyngus Day

Anderson Cooper is a professional journalist -- a professional journalist who gets the giggles. The CNN anchor broke down in another laughing fit while talking about a Polish American holiday called Dyngus Day.

While speaking into the camera during his show's "RidicuList" segment, Cooper explained the history of the post-Lent holiday and some of its traditions. One Dyngus Day ritual dictates that young boys sprinkle bits of water on girls they like. Girls apparently "strike back with a tap from a pussy willow."

It was then that Cooper lost it and began giggling like a third-grader who just heard the words "Lake Titicaca" for the first time. Cooper tried to compose himself several times but failed, even going so far as to stand up and walk around the stage.

After sitting back down (and still laughing), Cooper muttered to himself, "This is so stupid." Some took offense to the remark, believing that Cooper was in some way disparaging Dyngus Day. Not so, says Cooper. He tweeted an apology. "While in the midst of a silly giggle fit I said ‘this is so stupid’ in reference to my inability to stop laughing... I am genuinely sorry if I offended anyone by the lighthearted tone of the RidicuList." Buffalo has since invited Cooper to participate in the 2013 Dyngus Day celebration.

This isn't the first time Cooper failed to compose himself on the air. Last year, while speaking about actor Gerard Depardieu's alleged urination in the middle of an airplane, Cooper giggled like the Joker on laughing gas.
