Barry Sonnenfeld, ‘True Blood’ EP to Shepherd Netflix’s Lemony Snicket Reboot

Barry Sonnenfeld and “True Blood’s” Mark Hudis have come on board to shepherd Netflix’s planned reboot of Lemony Snicket’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” TheWrap has learned.

Hudis will executive produce and serve as the new series’ showrunner, while Sonnefeld will direct and exec produce. The books’ author Daniel Handler will also serve as an EP. Netflix first acquired the project in November.

“A Series of Unfortunate Events” follows three orphans, Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire, who are placed in the care of their uncle, Count Olaf, after their parents die. Unfortunately, Olaf turns out to be villainous, and attempts to steal their inheritance instead.
