For fans of Bravo's "Real Housewives" series, the stars aligned this morning on FOX's new "Bethenny" talk show. Bethenny Frankel, formerly of the the "Real Housewives of New York City" interviewed her fellow reality entrepreneur Kandi Burruss of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta." The two are both reality stars who have the smarts to build empires, and Kandi was actually the icing on a fun and spicy show.
Frankel's first guest of the day was her bestie Lisa Rinna. Who knew that these two sassy women were Hollywood BFFs? Apparently, Lisa is one of the first women Bethenny met in LA. Lisa lauded Bethenny for her successes and praised how far she has come.
The two also discussed hanging out with their hubbies, Harry Hamlin and Jason Hoppy. Bethenny said that the two men could barely get a word in edgewise. We can imagine! Lisa has been in a relationship with her man for 20 years. Bethenny pointed out that this is 104 years in Hollywood. Bethenny described Lisa's home as beautiful. Lisa described the two fast friends as "whirling dervishes."
Of course, the conversation turned to sex with Lisa and Bethenny involved. Lisa's latest project, in conjunction with sex counselor Ian Kerner, is "The Big Fun Sexy Sex Book." Lisa confessed that she and her husband go to hotels for sexy time and keep the relationship hot. Lisa said that she and Harry "like to experiment and get funky."
The rest of the episode was all about sex toys. In addition to visits to a sex toy shop and a "sex toy virgin," Bethenny showed the audience what a $14,000 14KT gold vibrator looked like. Many of the vibrators in the episode were blurred out for being "not safe for daytime TV." Kandi then came out to wrap the show up with class.
For the uninitiated, Kandi is a singer and Grammy Award-winning songwriter. She discussed becoming the face of black women's sexual pleasure as a result of her new, positive Bedroom Kandi sex toy line. A man from the audience, appropriately named BJ, asked about whether there would be any toys coming out for men. Kandi said that the toy was in the works. As Kandi is a singer, her toys are accompanied by the capacity to play a musical beat.
All in all, Bethenny seems to have her sea legs this week. The show was fun and high energy. Cookie the dog, very family to "Bethenny Ever After" fans, made her appearance on the chat fest this week. The producers are making Bethenny's transition from reality to talk seamless and fun. We can't wait to see what she does next.
