‘Big C’ Creator Darlene Hunt, Jodie Foster Developing Reincarnation Comedy at Sony TV

“The Big C” creator Darlene Hunt is developing a new comedy at Sony Pictures Television titled “Charlie.” Jodie Foster is set to executive produce the project, with the possibility of directing it.

The half-hour, single camera comedy centers on a self-destructive, emotionally-stunted alcoholic who vows to get her life on track after rescuing a dog she believes to be her reincarnated mother.

Hunt, who’s currently under a two-year overall deal with Sony TV, has most recently written for ABC’s “The Goldbergs” and executive produced NBC’s short-lived comedy “Save Me.” “The Big C” ran for four seasons on Showtime.

In addition to starring in numerous films, Foster was most recently nominated for two DGA Awards for “Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series” for Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” and ”Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series” for “House of Cards.”

She’s currently in pre-production on the Tristar Pictures film “Money Monster,” which she’s directing and stars Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Jack O’Connell. She has also directed the films “The Beaver,” “Home for the Holidays” and “Little Man Tate.”

UTA and attorney Joel McKuin represent Hunt, while Foster is represented as a director by UTA and attorney Matthew Saver.
