Bill Cosby Accusers’ Libel Case Will Move Forward, Judge Rules

A Massachusetts Federal Court said a libel case against comedian Bill Cosby is clear to move forward, despite the protestation of his legal team.

Plaintiffs Tamara Green, Linda Traitz and Therese Serignese are pursuing litigation against Cosby reps who dismissed their allegations of sexual assault — which can’t be pursued in court thanks to a statute of limitations — as “fabricated” and “absurd” in the media.

After reviewing arguments, Judge Mark Mastroianni determined the plaintiffs were valid in their concerns that being discredited by Cosby’s team in national press lent sufficient ground to pursue action as a mode of self defense.

Mastroianni subsequently denied requests from Cosby attorneys to dismiss the case.

“The court therefore finds direct liability is sufficiently pled. Accordingly, Defendant’s motion for dismissal on this point is denied,” documents obtained by TheWrap said.
