Bill Cosby’s Name Removed From NYU Film Workshop Amid Rape Allegations

New York University has decided to remove Bill Cosby‘s name from a film workshop designated for high school students.

NYU Local reported that at least until Aug. 17, the program was titled the “William H. Cosby Future Filmmakers Workshop,” which is a free 12-week seminar. Amid allegations against Cosby, which accuse him of sexually assaulting and/or drugging dozens of women, NYU has since removed Cosby’s name and deleted the website that contained information about the program.

“The workshops will [be] continuing, but Cosby’s name has been removed,” NYU spokesperson Matt Nagel told NYU Local on Aug. 28. “The decision was made in light of recent events. I am not sure on exact timing.”

NYU has yet to issue a formal statement about the name change.

In recent months, dozens of women have come forward to accuse Cosby of rape and sexual assault, including “The Cosby Show” actress Lili Bernard, who alleges that the comedian drugged, raped and threatened her while he was mentoring her in preparation for her appearance on the sitcom.

In the wake of the accusations, Cosby has suffered career setbacks, with Netflix postponing a comedy special that was to have aired late last year, and NBC shelving a comedy that it was developing as a possible starring vehicle for the comedian.
