Despite receiving nearly universal bad reviews from critics, the faith-based film War Room emerged as a formidable force at the box office this weekend and almost knocked Straight Outta Compton out of first place.

War Room did top Compton on Friday, but the final weekend totals were $13.2 million for Compton and $11 million for War Room, Box Office Mojo reports.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and newcomer No Escape landed in third and fourth places with $8.3 million and $8.28 million, respectfully, while Sinister 2 came in at No. 5 with $4.6 million.

In sixth place was The Man From U.N.C.L.E. with $4.4 million, followed by Hitman: Agent 47 with $3.9 million.

Rounding out the top 10 were The Gift (No. 8, $3.1 million), Jurassic World (No. 9, $3.1 million) and Ant-Man (No. 10, $3 million).

We Are Your Friends tanked in its debut, earning just $1.8 million and finishing outside the Top 10.
