Caitlyn Jenner shined a light on trans suicide rates in her latest blog post, which mostly focuses on Kyler Prescott, a 14-year-old transgender boy who committed suicide earlier this summer.

Kyler will be familiar to those who watched the premiere of I Am Cait.

"A recent study of nearly 100 transgender youth, ages 12 to 24, found that 51 percent reported thinking about suicide," Jenner wrote, "while 30 percent had attempted it at least once in their lives." She goes on to write that this is the reality for "far too many in the transgender community.

"And it's not because trans people are somehow inherently unstable -- it's because we live in a world that makes it very, very difficult to be trans," she wrote. Jenner fully understands. At the ESPY Awards, she revealed that the thought of suicide had crossed her mind earlier in life before making the decision to take on transitioning.

Later in the blog post, Kyler's mother, Katharine, also wrote that adults would refuse to call Kyler by the proper pronoun - even having his gender legally changed. "Even something as simple as using the pronoun that the trans kid asks you to use is so important and can make such a big difference in that kid's life," Katharine wrote.

While Katharine acknowledged that not all parents are as supportive of their children as she was, she urges them to "get on board with what their kid is telling them...There are a lot of kids out there who are not receiving support and that's a real tragedy," she writes. "That's something that we have to change - and we have to change it now."
