Amanda Peterson, best known for playing Patrick Dempsey's love interest in the 1987 flick Can't Buy Me Love, has died at age 43.

A cause of death has not been confirmed, but Peterson's father tells TMZ that "she had some illness and a sleep apnea problem that may have contributed." He said that the family hadn't heard from Amanda since July 3 and became concerned. Her body was discovered in her home on July 5.

Peterson's television work included NBC's A Year in the Life and recurring on the early-1990s drama Jack's Place. She also made appearances on Silver Spoons and Doogie Howser, M.D.
