Cathy Yuspa And Josh Goldsmith Move To 20th Century Fox TV With Overall Deal

Tom Papa-Starring Comedy From Ben Affleck & Matt Damon, Cathy Yuspa & Josh Goldsmith Gets CBS Pilot Order

This is an end of an era — after 15 years at Sony TV, comedy writer-producers Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith are moving to 20th Century Fox TV with a two-year overall deal. “They are the consummate showrunners, and they’re also very, very strong writers who are going to attract talent,” 20th TV chairman Gary Newman said. “We expect a big piece of development from them to go out this year and for them to help on one of our series in a big way; we know any of our shows will line up to have them.”

The husband-and-wife duo had been at Sony since 1997. They spent six years on the studio’s long-running comedy The King of Queens, which they joined after the pilot as executive story editors, fresh out of graduating from USC’s School of Cinema-Television. They rose to executive producers/showrunners on the hit CBS series, which they steered for three seasons, from 2001-04. During their stay at Sony, Yuspa and Goldsmith also created and executive produced a slew of comedy projects that were picked up to pilot, two of which, ‘Til Death and Big Day, went to series. Yuspa and Goldsmith, whose feature credits include 13 Going on 30 and What Women Want, are repped by ICM and attorney Ken Richman.
