CBS Renews Most Shows, But What About "Two and a Half Men"?

"Vegas," "Criminal Minds," and "Golden Boy" are also on the bubble.

With its perch as the No. 1 network secure, CBS is not looking to mess with its formula for success. The network is renewing almost all of its shows for next season. But there are a few notable exceptions, including "Two and a Half Men."

The shows with renewals in place are:

  • "2 Broke Girls"

  • "48 Hours"

  • "60 Minutes"

  • "The Amazing Race"

  • "The Big Bang Theory"

  • "Blue Bloods"

  • "CSI"

  • "Elementary"

  • "The Good Wife"

  • "Hawaii Five-0"

  • "How I Met Your Mother"

  • "The Mentalist"

  • "Mike and Molly"

  • "NCIS"

  • "NCIS: Los Angeles"

  • "Person of Interest"

  • "Survivor"

  • "Undercover Boss"

Left out:

  • "Two and a Half Men"

  • "Criminal Minds"

  • "CSI: NY"

  • "Rules of Engagement"

  • "Vegas"

  • "Golden Boy"

But before fans start to worry that "Two and a Half Men" will be canceled, TV Line says, "All indications are that the show will be back -- with Ashton Kutcher." CBS and the comedy's production studio, Warner Bros., are hammering out a deal next week to bring the show. A similar situation occurred last year; the comedy was renewed after other CBS shows, following salary talks with Kutcher, who eventually received a pay raise to $725K per episode.

"Criminal Minds" is in the same boat, with key cast members Joe Mantegna and Thomas Gibson hammering out new contracts.

As for "Vegas," the network is going to give it a second chance on Fridays starting April 5. Fellow freshman "Golden Boy" is decidedly on the bubble, according to Deadline. Its fate may rest on the quality of pilots CBS has under consideration for the fall.

Two shows not likely to return are "CSI: NY" and "Rules of Engagement," though the latter comedy has risen from near death on several occasions. Several of its cast members, including lead David Spade, have booked parts on other pilots, though Zap2It notes that does not necessarily mean cancellation.

And even cancellation doesn't mean cancellation. CBS un-canceled "Unforgettable" and is bringing back this summer.
