Sheen Breaks Silence on Selma's Show Departure

Charlie Sheen's FX sitcom Anger Management faced a heated shake-up in June when Sheen's co-star and on-screen love interest Selma Blair was let go from the show in an apparent expletive-filled text message.

This was allegedly in response to a falling out the two actors had when Blair made several statements questioning Sheen's work ethic on the show. Sheen has been silent about the incident, until now.

During his appearance last night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Sheen, 48, claimed Blair's departure was more about the show than any personal disagreements he had with Blair, 41.

"One of our primary characters, Selma Blair playing Kate, was written out because it was not about our relationship," Sheen told Leno. "The problem was, too many people were still excited about the Two and a Half character, and thought the Anger Management character was a little dull."

Smiling ominously, Sheen assured audiences, "That is not the case anymore. She leaves, and I start circling the drain. It's really fun to watch."

According to Sheen, the show is now Anger Management 2.0, and he indicated he will take his character to a darker place. Laura Bell Bundy, star of the Legally Blonde musical, has been cast to replace Blair as Sheen's new romantic interest.

Anger Management airs Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. on FX.
