It's a question that makes most parents groan: Where do babies come from?
Kia's answer: space!
In the automaker's extended Super Bowl commercial for its new Sorento, a flustered father answers his son's question with a long, involved story about a planet named "Babylandia." Babies of all species live there until a rocket ship "penetrates the atmosphere" (wink wink) to deliver them to their waiting parents.
The toddler frowns. "But Jake said babies are made when mommies and daddies …"
"Play 'Wheels on the Bus'!" the father commands the car. Whew! Kia saves the day.
The cute, family-oriented spot is a contrast to Kia's previous Super Bowl commercials, like its sexy 2012 ad for the Optima featuring Victoria's Secret supermodel Adriana Lima, rockers Motley Crue, and a horde of bikini-clad women.
What do you think of "Space Babies"?
The San Francisco 49ers will take on the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII, which airs Sunday 2/3 at 6:30 PM on CBS.
