A Closer Look at the New Squint on 'Bones'

While the squints on the Fox drama "Bones" are not primary cast members, the scenes they are in are often some of the most memorable and funny. Toward the end of the last season, however, one of the squints met his demise right there in the Jeffersonian. Vincent Nigel-Murray (Ryan Cartwright) was gunned down by a sniper, taking a bullet that was intended for FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz).

The episode depicting Vincent's death was perhaps one of the most dramatic of all time for "Bones." Certainly Booth and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) are surrounded by death all day, but it is a rare day indeed when one of their own is gunned down, standing just inches from them no less. This emotional event also served to remind Brennan and Booth just how much they have to lose. Vincent's death was a catalyst for Bones and Brennan ultimately sleeping together that very night. This was the night when fans can presume Brennan conceived their baby.

While the event brought the two closer together, Vincent's death was nonetheless an incredible loss for the team. He was talented, intelligent, and quite humorous, too. There is no doubt that his shoes will be hard to fill, yet somebody has to do it. So just who will be filling those shoes in the new season?

The show has released just a few details about who this new squint will be. By all accounts, Brennan's new intern in the lab will be a male, although the actor who will be playing the part hasn't yet been announced. The character is rumored to be about as redneck as they come, and yet like all of the other squints before him, he is highly intelligent, too. He is said to come with southern charm that some in the Jeffersonian will love. At least one, however, isn't happy with this choice of squints. This squint, unlike the others before him, comes with a past that includes a stint in juvenile detention not too many years ago.

This new character is sure to add some comedy and drama to the time Brennan and the others spend in the Jeffersonian, and fans are eagerly awaiting word about just who the actor playing this part will be.

You can catch the latest episodes of "Bones" on Fox Thursdays at 9 p.m. E.T.
