‘Daily Show With Trevor Noah’ Gets Start Date from Comedy Central (Video)
Trevor Noah will officially take over as “Daily Show” host on Sep. 28, Comedy Central said on Thursday. Long-running host Jon Stewart‘s final day will be Aug. 6, as previously reported.
The cable channel also released a short video teaser of the South African comic cautiously getting used to his new digs on Stewart’s current set.
In the clip, a curious Noah sneaks into the studio, and starts to make himself comfortable at the desk — a little too comfortable perhaps for Stewart. The elder statesman of the “Daily Show” ends up scaring the crap out of his young-gun replacement.

Almost as quickly as the little-known (in America, at least) Noah was named Stewart’s successor, he came under fire for old jokes he made on Twitter about Jews and women. Stewart and other comics leapt to his defense, while the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) called upon the new Comedy Central personality to avoid offensive quips in the future.
Another top Jewish group took it far further than the ADL, calling for Comedy Central and Stewart to rescind Noah’s deal.
“How can one of the world’s most admired Jewish comedians leave his legacy to a sexist anti-Semite?” American Jewish Congress President Jack Rosen asked at the time.
