Sean "Diddy" Combs won't face felony charges for allegedly attacking his son's UCLA football coach.

According to CNN, the Los Angeles District Attorney Office dismissed the felony charges for assault and battery. Instead, prosecutors referred the case to the city attorney's office, where they can consider filing misdemeanor charges against the rapper.

"We are thankful that the district attorney rejected felony charges in this matter," Combs' attorney Mark Geragos said. "This case never should have been part of the criminal justice system to begin with."

Last month, Combs was arrested on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery after he allegedly assaulted his son's coach with a kettlebell at a UCLA training complex. Combs reportedly went after Sal Alosi, the strength and conditioning coach, after witnessing a training session with his son Justin in which Alosi "was riding Justin badly," according to TMZ.

However, Combs' representative says the early reports of the incident are "wholly inaccurate."

"Any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son," the representative said in a statement. "We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed."
