Donald Trump Would Love to Face Kanye West in 2020 Presidential Election

Months before the primaries for the 2016 election, Donald Trump is already looking forward to beating his opponents in the next presidential election.

Following Kanye West’s VMA announcement that he’s preparing for a presidential run in 2020, Trump says he’s looking forward to facing the rapper on the campaign trail.

“[Kanye’s] actually a different kind of person than people think. He’s a nice guy,” Trump said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I hope to run against him someday.”

Trump also addressed people who have compared him to West, perhaps after Jimmy Kimmel released a video finding similarities between West’s wild 13-minute acceptance speech with the real estate mogul’s various statements caught on camera.

“Quite often there are comparisons made with Kanye and myself,” he said. “Well, I don’t quite get it.”

But according to Trump, West has been supportive of him in the past. “He said very nice things about me in the past, and he knows my daughter a little bit, Ivanka. And he said good things about me. Extremely positive things,” Trump said.

The ever-divisive West shocked the world during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards when he used his acceptance speech for the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award to announce a White House bid in 2020.

And while some are already laughing off the notion of President West, his announcement is drawing attention at the highest levels. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told the media on Monday that he looks “forward to seeing what slogan [West] chooses to embroider on his campaign hat.”
