The first full trailer for "Downton Abbey" Season 4 was released on Saturday after a 10-second teaser debuted last week.

The clip opens with the Dowager Countess of Grantham (Maggie Smith) counseling grieving granddaughter Lady Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery).

"You have a straightforward choice - you must choose either death or life," the Countess says in the trailer.

"And you think I should choose life?" Lady Mary replies, as a montage of quick-cut scenes begins to play.

The trailer is set to a very modern song - "Wolf's Law" by Welsh alternative rock band The Joy Formidable, released earlier this year.

Featured in the trailer is Gary Carr as jazz singer Jack Ross, the show's first recurring black character.
