Caitlyn Jenner will receive the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at this year's ESPY awards, ESPN confirmed on Monday. Recipients of the prestigious award are described as "possessing strength in the face of adversity, courage in the face of peril and the willingness to stand up for their beliefs no matter what the cost."

Jenner first discussed transitioning to a woman in an interview with Diane Sawyer back in April, and made her first appearance on the cover of Vanity Fair, to a welcome round of support.

Celebrities react to Caitlyn Jenner's debut

"It's not about the fanfare or people cheering in the stadium," said the former Olympian in the video on Vanity Fair. "It's not about going down the street and everybody giving me a 'That a boy, Bruce,' pat on the back. This is about your life."

Jenner will be joined on stage by her family, including all 10 of her children and stepchildren, at the ESPYs, which will air on Wednesday, July 15 at 8/7c on ABC.
