He may be heating up our screens as Ray Donovan now, but a few years ago, Liev Schreiber was eating up the scenery as Sabretooth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. And it's that kind of geek cred — matched with one of the greatest speaking voices on the planet — that makes Schreiber the perfect pick to host and narrate PBS' upcoming comic-book history program Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle.
Filled with classic backstories, rarely seen illustrations, and in-depth commentary from legendary comics contributors and icons, the three-part docuseries from Emmy-winning filmmaker Michael Kantor (Make 'Em Laugh: The Funny Business of America) won't debut until Oct. 8 at 9/8c. But fans attending Comic-Con International this week in San Diego can get a sneak peak at the project during the Superheroes panel featuring Kantor, executive producer Laurence Maslon, and comic-book giants Gerry Conway (co-creator of The Punisher) and Kingdom Come writer Mark Waid on Friday night in Room 23ABC.
