Gina Torres has a long history of playing strong women, and Zoë Washburne and Jessica Pearson are two of her most entertaining performances. Torres does a fantastic job of playing both characters, but which one is better? Fans of either "Firefly," which only lasted for 14 episodes in 2002 and 2003 on FOX, or "Suits," which is currently on USA Network, will have an immediate answer. Those of us who love both shows equally will have a harder time answering the question.

Which character is mentally stronger?

Jessica Pearson is manipulative, and only out for her firm. She's a character we love to hate at times, but also has some redeeming qualities. She created Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), and does what she can to bring out his good side. Like Harvey, she seems to always win, no matter what the cost. She is one of the reasons Harvey never loses a case.

Zoë, on the other hand, is a generally good person. She says it like she sees it, and is not one for manipulation or playing mind games, unless it's for the purpose of a good joke. She is not a pushover, however. She is not prone to manipulation.

Zoë would probably be able to escape one of Jessica's manipulations, but she probably would not be knowledgeable enough to win in a legal or verbal fight. Jessica would never give up in a fight of wits, and would probably win, as she always does (unless it's against Harvey, her own creation). Jessica has the edge on mental acuity.

Who is cooler?

Jessica is the type of person who does not care about being cool. She cares about winning, and making money. Zoë actually shares these qualities, but in a different way. She cares about winning, because winning means survival. Making money is important to her, because it allows her to stay with her crewmates and be free. The thing that gives Zoë the edge on this aspect is the fact that she can beat down bad guys and shoot a big gun. There's no other way of looking at it. Zoë is really cool.

Who would win in a physical fight?

As mentioned earlier, Zoë has experience shooting guns and beating up bad guys. Jessica is really tough, and would not go down easily, but she sits at a desk most of the day. Jessica would use her brains to avoid most of the punches with a manipulative verbal assault, but Zoë is pretty smart too. She would figure out Jessica's physical weaknesses, and take her down with a swift kick to the head. Game over. Zoë Washburne wins!
