What’s Happening to Mercedes? Actress Says She’ll "Miss the Whole Glee Family"
Glee fans already know that Mercedes is graduating from McKinley High this month. What fans don't know is whether Amber Riley is graduating too — and possibly leaving the hit Fox musical series?
"That's a wrap on Amber Riley! Just closed a chapter in my life, the only thing I've known day in and day out for three years. I'm going to miss the whole Glee family, seeing them every day! I have so many brothers and sisters now," Riley, 26, tweeted on Wednesday. "But I am looking forward to a much needed and deserved summer vacation! SCHOOL'S OUT Glee Kids! Let's play!"
20th Century Fox, which produces Glee, declined to comment. Shortly after, she told fans on Twitter to "stay tuned to see what's next for Mercedes," which could mean just about anything.
Riley could have sent the tweet out to fool fans into thinking she was leaving the show since the producers been extremely tight-lipped about what will happen to the graduating seniors come Season 4. Riley could have also been referring to the fact that this is the first summer since Glee's premiere that there is no national or international tour — meaning the cast finally gets a real hiatus from the show.
However, it's equally likely the end of Season 3 could also be Mercedes' swan song. Although she is still dating a McKinley High junior, Sam "Trouty Mouth" Evans, Mercedes has been vocal this season about her dreams of superstardom. Maybe she'll follow Kurt and Rachel to New York or maybe she'll go to Los Angeles to try to land a record deal.
