Grab your tissues and prepare your goodbyes, Downton Abbey fans. We finally know when the show will be debuting its final season stateside.

The Masterpiece drama will make its sixth and final premiere on Jan. 3, 2016 in the U.S., the network announced Saturday at the Television Critics Association fall previews.

"It has made a big difference for a lot of reasons," PBS CEO Paula Kerger told reporters. "There is no question it has been a great gift. It brought a lot of people back to public television. We really tried to take advantage of that...At a time when the financial meltdown was challenging everyone, it gave us a lift."

Before taking its final bow, Downton will help PBS launch its new American historic drama Mercy Street, starring Josh Radnor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Gary Cole and AnnaSophia Robb. The show is set during the Civil War, on a private home that is seized and turned into a hospital, and will premiere Jan. 17.
