This doesn't bode well for a Hannibal revival: Star Hugh Dancy has signed on for a leading role on Hulu's upcoming original series The Way, from Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood).

Dancy will play Cal Roberts, the charismatic spokesperson for a controversial movement who battles personal demons as he tries to lead it into the future. He'll star alongside Michelle Monaghan and Aaron Paul, who play married couple Sarah and Eddie, who are also members of the organization. Paul is also a producer on the show.

The Way, which comes from Katims' production company and was created by Jessica Goldberg, follows a family at the center of a controversial faith-based movement struggling with marriage and other relationships. In March, Hulu gave the show a straight-to-series 10-episode order.

The show is scheduled to begin production in New York next month and premiere on Hulu in early 2016.
