Image Awards: Jamie Foxx, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Don Cheadle, Kerry Washington

Jamie Foxx was named entertainer of the year tonight at the NAACP’s Image Awards at the Shrine Auditorium. Denzel Washington was named best actor and Viola Davis best actress in a motion picture for their respective roles in Flight and Won’t Back Down. Best picture prize went to Red Tails. Don Cheadle was voted best actor in a comedy series for House Of Lies and LL Cool J took the best actor in a drama award for NCIS: Los Angeles. Kerry Washington was named best actress in a drama series for Scandal as well as best supporting actress in a movie for Django Unchained. Washington also received the previously announced President’s Award presented by Diahann Carroll. The award for best actress in a comedy series went to Cassi Davis of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, which earned the corresponding supporting actor nod for Lance Goss. The awards for best supporting actor and actress in a drama series went to Omar Epps for House M.D. and to Loretta Devine for Grey’s Anatomy. Scandal and The Game took nods, respectively, for best drama and comedy series. Alfre Woodard was chosen best actress in a movie or miniseries for her role as Ouiser in Lifetime’s version of Steel Magnolias.

In addition to the President’s Award to Kerry Washington, honorary awards went to Vice Admiral Michelle Howard and to Harry Belafonte.

Steve Harvey hosted the show produced by Reginald Hudlin and Brad Lachman.
