Jesse Tyler Ferguson is nominated for an Emmy for playing "Modern Family" favorite Mitchell Pritchett. The actor, who was nominated last year, tells Yahoo! about the most shocking moment from past ceremonies…

Why is Emmy night the best night ever?
Well, for us, having the whole cast nominated makes it a big party night for the cast. Anytime we can spend time together where directors aren't telling us to pay attention and memorize lines, it is always a good night.

Who will you bring?
I am bringing my boyfriend Justin Mikita. He's always a great date. He's also handsome and fun. And this year, I am bringing my mother and Justin's mother, as well.

Favorite moment from last year?
I was really thrilled when Julie [Bowen] and Ty [Burrell] won -- that was so exciting.

Did you discuss the odds beforehand?
I told Julie, "Look, I'm glad you're nominated, but Betty White is going to win. You know she is going to win. It's Betty White." And then when Julie won, I was just so thrilled. I mean, I was shocked, actually. I was like, "I don't want to diminish what you've accomplished, but I really didn't think you'd get this!"

What can we expect from you at this year's ceremony?

This year, I'm thinking sequins and plunging necklines.

That's all you need.

I just need to bring a clean pair of underwear and some vodka.
