Jodie Foster, ‘Big C’ Creator Team Up for Comedy at Sony TV
Writer Darlene Hunt has teamed with Jodie Foster to develop a comedy series, “Charlie,” for Sony Pictures TV.
The single-camera half-hour revolves around an alcoholic woman who vows to get her life back on track after she rescues a dog that she believes to be the reincarnation of her mother.
Hunt (pictured), creator of the Showtime comedy “The Big C,” wrote the “Charlie” script on spec. She’s under an overall deal with Sony TV, which is developing the project internally before shopping to TV buyers.
Foster has signed on to exec produce with Hunt and potentially direct the pilot. Foster has been active in helming for the smallscreen lately, earning Directors Guild Award noms for her work on Netflix’s “House of Cards” and “Orange Is the New Black.” She was also nommed for an Emmy last year for directing an episode of “Orange.”
Hunt is repped by UTA and attorney Joel McKuin. Foster is repped as a director by UTA and attorney Mathew Saver.
