Oh, the irony.

Joe Brown -- the titular star of courtroom reality series Judge Joe Brown -- has been sentenced to five days in jail for contempt of court. The charges stem from an incident in March 2014, when Brown (who is in fact a real judge) was observing juvenile court proceedings. He said a woman recognized him and asked for his help with her child support case.

He told ABC News at the time that he was "nauseated" looking at her case, and went up to the judge to discuss it.

"When I insisted that the woman's charges be dismissed," Brown began, "He started talking about, I'm 'not an attorney' so-and-so." It ultimately turned into a heated verbal altercation that led to Brown getting arrested and held in contempt of court.

Brown submitted himself to begin serving his sentence on Thursday.
