Kurt Sutter Inks New Deals with 20th TV and FX

Sons of Anarchy’s” Kurt Sutter has signed a new, three -year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television and a first-look development deal with FX, Variety has learned.

The contract is an exclusivity agreement between the “Anarchy” scribe and exec producer-creator and 20th Century Fox Television and Fox 21. Sutter will finish the final season of the biker drama — set to premiere September 9 on FX — and then move immediately into production on his new FX series, “The Bastard Executioner.”

“Kurt is that rare producer who is a triple threat — he writes, he showruns and he directs,” said Fox Television Group Chairman and CEO Dana Walden. “There is nothing he can’t do. He has a singular voice and he cares so deeply about the work, every detail of every moment in SONS is meticulously thought-out and perfectly executed. Kurt is quite simply one of a kind, and we love having him at this studio.’

Shooting is currently underway on “Southpaw,” which Sutter wrote and is exec producing. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams.

Sutter is represented by WME and Michael Gendler of Gendler and Kelly.
