Letterman, Seinfeld, Scorsese to Headline Spike’s Rickles Tribute

Some of the biggest names in comedy, TV and film will be on hand to fete funnyman Don Rickles during the Spike TV special “One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles.”

David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Tracy Morgan, Jimmy Kimmel, John Stamos, Bob Newhart, Regis Philbin, Ray Romano, Brad Garrett and more will come together on May 6 at New York’s Apollo Theater to tape the 90-minute special, produced in conjunction with Don Mischer Prods.

The event will include stand-up performances, short films, pre-taped tributes and personal stories told by Rickles’ friends and costars. Rickles will close out the night with an address to his friends and colleagues.

“We’re thrilled that David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Robert De Niro and so many more will be coming out to entertain and celebrate our hero — Don Rickles,” said Casey Patterson, exec producer and exec VP of event production and talent development at Viacom Entertainment Group. “The genius of Rickles is in the danger, nobody is safe, and what you can expect is a night of comedy from these superstars worthy of a legend. It truly will be One Night Only.”

Don Mischer, Casey Patterson and Charlie Haykel serve as exec producers for the special, with Juliane Hare as producer. Tim Bruno will serve as EIC for the network and Vernon Lynch will serve as a consultant.

“One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles” airs May 28 on Spike TV.
