The Mentalist Adds Prison Break Alum as Possible Series Regular

The Mentalist Exclusive: Rockmond Dunbar Promoted to Series Regular

CBS’ The Mentalist has nabbed onetime Prison Break inmate Rockmond Dunbar to fill a potentially series regular role.

As reported by our sister site Deadline, Dunbar has been cast as Dennis Abbott, a no-nonsense FBI Supervisory Agent who isn’t impressed by Patrick Jane’s skills or charm (but probably his hair).

Abbott is one of two new characters/possible series regulars being added for Season 6, in preparation for these two midseason exits. The other, as scooped by TVLine’s Inside Line, is FBI agent Kim Fischer, a thirtysomething ex-homicide detective from Dallas who is not afraid to stand up for herself.

Dunbar’s other recent TV credits include Sons of Anarchy, The Game and the unceremoniously axed Terriers.
