The truth hurts!
Rapper-turned- "American Idol" judge Nicki Minaj is living her truth, and it's playing out in front of TV cameras. The outspoken drama queen's three-part E! reality series, "Nicki Minaj: My Truth," premiered on Sunday night, giving a behind-the-scenes look at the life of the outrageous rapper -- including her debut appearance as a judge on "American Idol."
But even the "Pink Friday" singer was shocked by some of what she saw on her reality show. Minaj recently said that after seeing a preview screening of the show, she was shocked by the amount of cursing she does.
But the rapper's f-bomb dropping is small potatoes. The "My Truth" premiere showed her storming off the set of her music video (too many people around!), gave the real scoop on her first day on "American Idol" (major wardrobe drama), and had her confronting a celeb blogger on printing all those "lies."
Minaj also took aim at her "Idol" co-judge with this remark: "I think Mariah met her match this time, and I don't think she was expecting to meet her match." Minaj and Carey famously engaged in an on-camera catfight during an early "Idol" taping (and TMZ posted video of the expletive-filled exchange).
The star also revealed that her decision to take the job on "American Idol' didn't come easy.
"'I'm just super nervous and anxious for my first day on 'American Idol,'" she said. "I'm still second guessing my decision...I'm human."
And then there was the wardrobe war of words. As she prepared for her first day on the "American Idol" set, Minaj revealed that picking out an outfit "adds to the anxiety of the first day."
She hated what her new stylist picked out for her ("None of this stuff feels like me…These aren't even my colors…this black and red, those aren't my colors!" she complained) and chewed her wardrobe team out for not e-mailing her outfit picks ahead of time.
"This is 911. Dee-saster," Minaj declared.
The wardrobe snafu also had her running late for her "Idol" judging debut.
"So am I gonna be an hour late or am I gonna be two hours late?" she asked. "Do you know how embarrassing this is? That I'm literally late to my first day."
The reality show later captured the rapper arriving late for a guest appearance on "The View."
"I thought it was a taping," she revealed. "Little did I know it was a live show…I missed my segment, and they had to push my segment back." Interestingly, Minaj later engaged in a Twitter rant against "The View" head honcho, Barbara Walters, over her alleged flap with Carey.
Finally, the busy rapper sat down with celeb gossip blogger Perez Hilton, where she denied any falling out between herself and pop star Rihanna, and called Hilton out for printing "lies" about her. You can see a clip of Nicki's chat with the blogger here.
The next installment of "Nicki Minaj: My Truth" airs on 11/11 at 10:30 PM ET on E!
