Norman Reedus fans hoping to control and guide the actor through the creepy world of “Silent Hills” should be bummed to find out that the video game has been canned.

“Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it,” the “Walking Dead” star who recently appeared on TheWrap‘s “Drinking with the Stars” tweeted on Sunday. “Hopefully it’ll come back around. Sorry everyone.”

A teaser trailer for the doomed game starring Reedus premiered last August, along with a playable teaser that is still available on the Playstation Store, but will reportedly expire on April 29.

Even more exciting for fans of the survival horror genre, or the “Silent Hill” franchise that spawned two movies, was the involvement of filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro, who was working video game creator Hideo Kojima (“Metal Gear Solid”) to develop the Konami title.

Del Toro, however, was the first to break the news when asked about “Silent Hills” during a panel at the San Francisco International Film Festival, where he as the recipient of the Irving M. Levin Directing Award on Saturday.

“It’s not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart,” the “Pacific Rim” director said.

Konami also issued a short statement saying the company “will continue to develop the ‘Silent Hill’ series.” While speaking with Gamespot, the company behind hits including “Metal Gear Solid” clarified “Silent Hills” is dead.

“Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic Silent Hills project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.”

Why? The cause is reportedly due to a split between the company and Kojima.
