The U.S. airman who bravely stopped a terror attack on a train in France this summer sustained several stab wounds early Thursday morning outside a bar in Sacramento, Calif., reports CNN.

Spencer Stone was one of three Americans (including Alek Skarlatos who is now competing on Dancing with the Stars) hailed as heroes in August when they foiled an attempted terrorist attack on a Paris-bound train. Stone tackled the gunman and endured several injuries that required surgery, including getting slashed in the thumb with a boxcutter.

Now, he's back in the hospital with multiple stab wounds he got in America.

According to CNN, Stone and some friends were outside of a bar late Wednesday night when an altercation began. Surveillance videos shows two groups men throwing punches and shoving each other. Stone was stabbed several times in his upper body and transported to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

Sacramento Deputy Police Chief Ken Bernard told CNN Stone's injuries were significant but not life-threatening. Police have released photos of two Asian male suspects who left the scene in a dark gray or black 2009-2012 Toyota Camry.

Stone is not expected to face criminal charges stemming from the fight.
