'Perks of Being a Wallflower,' 'American Horror Story' Win GLAAD Media Awards

The 24th annual GLAAD Media Awards continued Saturday in Los Angeles, where Perks of Being a Wallflower took home outstanding film: wide release.

Former President Bill Clinton was honored with the advocate for change award, while NBC’s The New Normal took home outstanding comedy series. FX’s American Horror Story: Asylum won outstanding TV movie or mini-series, and NBC’s Days of Our Lives won outstanding daily drama.

The ceremony took pace at the JW Marriott and was hosted by Drew Barrymore. Additional honorees were announced in New York last month, and more are to come May 11 in San Francisco.

The GLAAD Media Awards fund the organization's work of bringing stories of LGBT people and issues to the U.S. public. The events have raised nearly $3.5 million for the group annually.

Outstanding Comedy Series: The New Normal (NBC), accepted by co-creators Ryan Murphy and Allison Adler with Andrew Rannells, Justin Bartha, Georgia King, Jayson Blair, NeNe Leakes

Outstanding Individual Episode: “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Me What to Do” Raising Hope (Fox), accepted by show creator Greg Garcia with Cloris Leachman, Shannon Woodward

Outstanding TV Movie or Mini-Series: American Horror Story: Asylum (FX), accepted by show creator Ryan Murphy
