Pinterest Drops Invite-Only Registration

Pinterest Drops Invite-Only Registration

Pinterest just got less exclusive.

The photo sharing website said Wednesday that it is dropping its invite-only registration. Signing up to use Pinterest is now open to anyone who wants to create an account.

"We're really excited to have the capacity to offer Pinterest to more people, and if you're a Pinner with friends who've been waiting on the sidelines, we hope you'll let them know," the company wrote on its blog. "Happy pinning to everyone!"

Pinterest said that users can now sign up with an email address, Twitter account or Facebook account.

Previously, users had to request an invite from the company or rely on other users to extend an invitation.

Valued at $1.5 billion, Pinterest is reportedly the third largest social media site behind Facebook and Twitter.
