There was a horrifying twist in "Pretty Little Liars" at the end of Season 2; Maya's (Bianca Lawson) body was discovered after her disappearance. Now the mystery of "A" has been uncovered, a new mystery has just begun. Who killed Maya, and for what reason? Here is a look at the possible suspects and their motives.
Mona Vanderwall (Janel Parrish)
Now we know that Mona is "A," it isn't such a stretch to think she could have murdered Maya. She took enormous pleasure in breaking up the pretty little liars' relationships just to make sure they were all miserable. There is a big leap between causing nasty misunderstandings and murder, but let's not forget some of the most evil things Mona has done. She hit Hanna (Ashley Benson) with a car, she tampered with the brakes on Toby's (Keegan Allen) van, and she drugged Emily (Shay Mitchell) with growth hormones. Any one of those things could have led to death, and two of those things were pre-planned. It might be too obvious to have Mona as the killer, but she is definitely a prime suspect.
Jenna Marshall (Tammin Sursok)
Although Jenna has the occasional moment of niceness, for the most part, she is crazy. She has lied, most obviously about the fact that she is no longer blind, and framed Garrett (Yani Gellman) for Ali's murder. She is a severely twisted young lady, and murder would just be the next step for her. It's hard to pin down a real motive for her killing Maya, other than causing pain to Emily, but that isn't beyond the realms of possibility. Ever since Emily struck up a friendship with Toby, she has seemed hell bent on destroying her.
Paige McCullers (Lindsey Shaw)
Paige is a very interesting, possibly overlooked suspect in this case. The obvious motive for getting Maya out of the picture is her feelings for Emily. Paige knew she made a mistake by letting Emily go, and she has shown that she wants her back. Enough for murder? Miss McCullers is not without a violent streak. Before she knew how she felt about Emily, she almost drowned her in the pool over the captaincy of the swim team! Seems like a good indication of how far she will go to get what she wants!
In true "Pretty Little Liars" tradition, it will probably be a long time before Maya's killer is revealed. This means that there will be lots of twists and turns to look forward to! Of all possible suspects, these three girls are highest on the list for now. We'll have to wait and see how things change when the show returns in June.
