Ratings: ‘Empire’ Sees Another Drop, But Stays on Top; ‘Arrow’ Premiere Dips From Last Season

“Empire’s” ratings dropped yet again, but Fox’s hit hip-hop soap opera was still the top show across all of broadcast.

The third episode of season two netted a 5.0 rating/15 share in the advertiser coveted adults 18-49 demographic and just under 13 million viewers. That is an eight percent drop from last week, when the show pulled in a 5.4/17 and 13.7 million viewers.

Including the drop off from the season one finale to season two premiere, this is the third straight week that the hip-hop soap opera’s ratings have fallen, yet it continues to dominate Wednesday night primetime. It has also shown impressive growth in delayed viewing.

The fourth season premiere of “Arrow” on The CW performed well, pulling in a 1.1/4 and 2.6 million viewers. It was down only slightly from the season three premiere in total viewers but up in the key demo, as last season’s premiere got a 1.0/3 and 2.8 million viewers.

Fox easily won the night, scoring a 3.4/11 and 9.3 million viewers. “Rosewood” turned in a 1.7/6 and 5.7 million viewers at 8 p.m, down from a 1.9/7 and 6.2 million last week. “Empire” followed at 9.

ABC finished second in the key demo but fourth in total viewers with a 1.8/6 and 6.1 million viewers. “The Middle” got a 1.9/7 and 7.2 million viewers at 8 p.m. “The Goldbergs” got a 2.1/7 and 6.6 million viewers at 8:30. “Modern Family” scored a 2.7/8 and 7.9 million viewers at 9. “Black-ish” closed out the night at 9:30 with a 1.9/6 and 5.9 million viewers.

CBS finished in third in the key demo but second in total viewers a 1.6/5 and 8.2 million viewers. “Survivor” aired a 8 p.m., clocking in at a 2.0/7 and 8.9 million viewers. “Criminal Minds” followed at 9, enjoying a 1.7/5 and 8.9 million viewers. New medical drama “Code Black” came in with a 1.1/4 and 6.8 million viewers at 10, dropping from a 1.6/5 and 8.5 million viewers during its premiere last week for a drop of 31 percent in the demo and 20 percent in viewers.

NBC finished fourth in the key demo but third in total viewers with a 1.4/4 and 6.9 million viewers. “Mysteries of Laura” aired at 8 p.m, netting a 1.1/4 and 7.1 million viewers. “Law & Order: SVU” followed at 9, scoring a 1.5/5 and 7 million viewers. “Chicago PD” got a 1.5/5 and 6.5 million viewers at 10.

The CW came in fifth place with a 1.0/3 and 2.3 million viewers. “Arrow” aired at 8 p.m. The season premiere of “Supernatural” followed at 9, grabbing a 0.9/3 and just under 2 million viewers.

Univision came in sixth place with a 0.8/3 and 2.2 million viewers.

Telemundo came in seventh with a 0.6/2 and 1.5 million viewers.
