RATINGS RAT RACE: ‘Don’t Trust The B—-’ Holds Up OK In Week 2, ‘Revenge’ Returns

With springtime in full force, viewers continue to check out. Last night, primetime TV usage in the adults 18-49 category was down 4% from last week, pushing many series to all-time lows. Fox’s American Idol (4.7/13, 16.5 million viewers) was down 4% from last week’s fast national to a new low for an in-season cycle. Fox still won the night in 18-49 and total viewers.

ABC’s Suburgatory (2.0/6) slipped a tenth from last week to a series low but its performance was nevertheless impressive given the fact that its lead-in this week was a Middle rerun (1.3) vs. an original (2.1) last week. Modern Family (4.0/11) also was down a tenth from its fast national last week to a season low but the hit comedy always gets adjusted up. At 9:30 PM, Don’t Trust The B—- In Apt. 23 (2.6/7) was down a modest 10% from its series premiere last week. At 10 PM, Revenge (2.3/4) came back from a long, six-week hiatus pretty much on par, down a tenth from its last original.

CBS’ Survivor (2.7/8) was flat, with the rest of the network’s lineup in repeats. NBC had the only two series on the Big 4 to post ratings gains. Betty White’s Off Their Rockers (1.7/5) was up a tenth from last week as was Rock Center with Brian Williams (0.7/2, up a tenth from the fast national, .2 from the final). Sandwiched between then was midseason comedy BFFs (0.9/3), which was flat with last week at below-renewal levels. At 10 PM, Law & Order: SVU (1.5/4) was down 12% from last week to a series low. The CW’s America’s Next Top Model (0.6/2) was up a tenth.
